Summary of the role
To be a member of a team involved in the design and development of Warhead Electrical Systems. To build capability in the area of Arming Fuzing and Firing systems and their integration into Warhead systems. This is required to provide capability for any possible future successor systems and assistance to the In Service Support teams. The role will concentrate on the application of commercial technologies to robust microprocessor systems.
Key accountabilities
• Lead the hardware development of COTS based digital hardware systems to solve departmental problems and contribute to the down selection and underwriting of suitable technologies
• Provide technical leadership in the development of COTS based approaches within AWE and with external companies
• To assist in the execution of appropriate programmes to ensure that capability is developed and maintained
• Be part of the process to ensure that appropriate staff and facilities are available to meet the needs of our customer

Knowledge, Qualifications, Experience & Skills
• Degree (or equivalent) in Electronics or other relevant discipline
• HND in Electronics or other relevant discipline with demonstrable experience in robust digital systems
• Achieved or working towards Chartered Membership of an appropriate Institute
• Knowledge of microprocessor techniques and programmable technologies
• Knowledge of modelling techniques(UML, xUML or Formal Methods)
• Awareness of verification/validation of digital systems
• Assurance procedures and processes
• Experience in the design and development of digital systems and in the application of Hardware Description Languages
• Ability to understanding technical specifications and requirements of Warhead Electrical Systems
• General management capabilities of self
• Interpersonal skills to communicate competently
• Working in a multi-discipline team
• Clarity of verbal and written communications

• Some travel, including occasional travel abroad (mainly USA)
