Summary of the role
Currently Machine Tool Technical Authority (MTTA) is the focal point for all machine tool related activities (except machining processes) including maintenance, development, procurement and metrology. This role will provide technically support to the maintenance and procurement teams.
Key accountabilities
• Ensure all documentation packages required to support the execution of operational maintenance tasks are accepted as suitable and sufficient and approved for use including safety and environmental assessments where necessary
• Technical review of task preparation documentation provided by machine tool maintainers to ensure safe systems of work and a safe working environment
• Suitable and sufficient liaison with operational Work Supervisor Officer’s (WSO), project and planning staff, facility engineering, maintenance managers and facility work control in the planning of the maintenance work load
• Technical support of operational WSO’s in the identification and procurement of engineering spares
• The availability of process to ensure that on completion of planned or breakdown maintenance, job dockets are completed with a full and accurate report of the work done and all the necessary information to maintain the objects history
• Manage the technical stores, procuring items as deemed necessary
Knowledge, Qualifications, Experience & Skills
• Proven technical support experience
• Managerial expertise
• Preparation and working knowledge of Safe Systems of Work
• Knowledge of machine tool procurement and maintenance practices
• Ability to interpret national, international and regulatory requirements for machine tools
• Engineering Apprenticeship, City and Guilds (as appropriate), or NVQ Level 3. (or equivalents)
• Engineering with practical experience of machine tool maintenance
• Ability to understand engineering jargon and instructions, drawings, etc.
