Supply Chain Improvements Engineer - Wound Assemblies (Bucks) to plan, co-ordinate and implement all Supply Chain Improvement and Manufacturing Engineering actions to support Supply Chain activities associated with wound assemblies. These will cover low cost supply chain activities, in service supply parts and new products.
Principal Accountabilities:
Oversee the introduction of new products and assist / advise with design through suggesting alternative material and manufacturing techniques. Analysis of new designs to ensure DFM / DFA criteria is met. Ensure compliance with both time scales and budget commitments. Visit piece part suppliers and advise on technical and quality issues. Assist with the creation of 'standard ops' for new and existing parts. Train and advise suppliers on production of wound assemblies. Challenge conventions in order to ensure continuous improvements. To undertake Production Readiness for wound assemblies in line with requirements. Consider alternative manufacturing methods to help reduce cost. Support supplier selection and assessments for wound sub-assemblies. Be prepared to present wound sub-assembly transfer status to customers. Manage a test equipment and tooling database for the wound sub-assemblies. Plan the execution of manufacturing introduction from design release to production acceptance (NPI). Work with manufacturing team to ensure successful launch.
The Improvements Engineer will need a thorough understanding of wound assemblies, operations and functions, preferably in a low volume, high mix environment. Understand the lifecycle of mechanical components, their sources and lead-times. An ability to produce concise reports and effective presentations.
Knowledge of improvement tools & techniques and of inspection methods and techniques. Communications must be effective at all levels. Must be able to demonstrate a high level of self-motivation and creativity.
Considerable knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes from the lamination to the complete rotor
i.e. Design for manufacture I assembly / test techniques.
