Summary of the role
A key member of the Major Projects Design Team with responsibility for carrying out the duties of the Senior Engineering Manager as directed by the Head of Engineering & Design, including the management of multi-disciplinary resources, working with Senior Project Managers to provide solutions that meet AWE and other defined stakeholders requirements.
Key accountabilities
- Managing engineering solutions, which fully comply with all AWE and UK legal requirements together with AWE business case needs
- Agree the responsibilities, accountabilities, contribution and information for design between AWE, Design House, managing agent and others for projects within portfolio
- Establishing, maintaining and communicating the engineering design programme, budget and work breakdown structure
- Agree with the Design Authority the extent of processes required for the specification and verification of each project
- Monitoring the co-ordination of engineering design activities
- Contribute to integrated safety when reviewing engineering designs
- Ensuring value engineering is undertaken in a timely manner
