Job Title: Senior Design Engineer

Salary: £34,500 - £36,500

Introduction:
Our client is the world’s largest maker of Earthmoving, Construction, Aggregates and Mining Vehicles and equipment, They now require a Senior Design Engineer to be based at their Manufacturing facility in Peterlee, You will be working within the Product Design Engineering Dept and be responsible for leading a team of dedicated Engineers.
The successful candidate will provide Mechanical component designs across the whole Articulated Truck ranges. Components may include light and heavy steel fabrications (inc analysis) Powertrain installation and non metallic bodywork/panels, Therefore interested candidates must have an Engineering degree along with a firm Product Design background within a relevant field.
Responsibilities will include:
- Direct and participate in the design, development and production of new product components and system concepts, ensuring designs meet functional requirements and comply to all engineering and regulatory requirements.
- Develops project plans, functional, design and technical specifications
- Take the leadership role in the problem resolution process
- Lead multi-functional component and system development teams
- Conduct technical evaluations and assessments of competitive product
Applicant Requirements:
- Requires an Engineering Degree
- Proven background in Product design in a relevant field.
- Requires leadership ability with good presentation and communication skills
- A strong engineering mechanics and mechanics of materials background.
- A sound understanding of; dynamically loaded welded steel fabrications, power-train installations, non metallic component design, and material application.
- Possess analytical skills with the ability to develop product concepts; and a working
knowledge/understanding of FMEA, DFMA, manufacturing techniques and project management.
- Strong problem solving techniques
- Must be self motivated, flexible and able to work in a team environment
- Mathematically adapt.
- Excellent attention to detail and quality.
