Our client is seeking a competent Safety Engineer to join our growing team of Safety experts based in the Farnham office and working within the Defence, Aerospace and Air Traffic Management domains.
The successful candidate will be required to carry out Safety Analysis, document the analysis in formal reports and present the results of that analysis to both internal and external customers.
The role is technically challenging and the successful candidate will be expected to be able to work under their own guidance and interact with customers at all levels.
To be degree or equivalent qualified in an Engineering/Technical Discipline or have equivalent engineering Exposure.
To have a good Engineering background and awareness of Defence, Aerospace, Air Traffic or other relevant safety related sectors.
Successful candidates will:
Act as part of a team to deliver Safety deliverables to customers requirements.
Be responsible for the quality of their own work in order to maintain Atkins reputation as a provider of quality services.
Coordinate and interface with customers to achieve the customers requirements under the guidance of a Project Manager.
Have good verbal and written communication skills and be prepared to present the findings of Safety Analysis to both internal and external customers.
Be able to write detailed technical reports.
Knowledge of the following is expected:
Safety Legislation and Standards.
Hazard Identification techniques such as HAZOPS, SWIFT, Functional Failure Analysis, etc.
Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment techniques.
Ability to create and maintain Hazard Log Databases.
Ability to construct and document safety arguments using clear and concise language.
Desirable Requirements for the role:
Exposure in implementing safety legislation and standards.
Exposure in Hazard Identification techniques such as HAZOPS, SWIFT, Functional Failure Analysis (FFA), etc.
Exposure in Hazard Analysis techniques such as Fault Tree Analysis, Event Tree Analysis, Hazard Identification, Hazard Log management and Claim Argument Evidence Notations.
Exposure in the application of Human Factors techniques as applied to safety analysis would be an advantage.
