Job Summary
Defence is a progressive and rapidly expanding part of the Atkins group, providing high end technical and project management services to the principal defence companies. We are now seeking individuals at a number of levels to join our growing Defence team in Derby. These roles will offer specialist technical, mechanical, safety and reliability engineering and project management services primarily to Rolls-Royce, supporting their ongoing commitment to the UK MoD Submarine Programme. Engineers with demonstrable Safety Engineering analytical skills are required to deliver a range of technically challenging projects and support the development of safety cases in the nuclear industry. Successful candidates will have a desire to be challenged and be looking towards growth and development within Atkins. Requirements of the Role Essential - Due to the nature of work undertaken at our client's site, incumbents of these positions are required to meet special nationality rules and therefore these vacancies are only open to sole British Citizens. Applicants who meet this criteria will also be required to undergo security clearance vetting, if not already security cleared to a minimum SC level.
A degree, HND or equivalent in an engineering or scientific discipline is preferred with appropriate professional experience in safety environments relevant to the defence sector. Desirable - Hazard identification and assessment techniques e.g. Hazop, FMEA, FMECA, FTA/ETA
- Modern standards safety case process including production and presentation of deterministic and probabilistic safety arguments
- Independent Peer Review ARM/ILS Reliability Centred Maintenance Familiar with UK regulatory standards e.g. NII SAPs Familiar with the Nuclear industry and/ or Submarine Nuclear Steam Raising Plant
