Introduction:

My client is one of the world’s leading Naval shipbuilders, Delivering world class solutions in the Design and Build of advanced Warships, Supplying the Royal Naval along with many other Navies throughout the world, They are now looking for a Rigging Team Leader, Reporting to the Berth and Transportation Manager, You will be responsible for all day to day lifting, Slinging and berthing activities at their state of the art Production facility in Portsmouth.

Responsibilities:

- Health and Safety
- Management of a team of Rigger, maintaining the schedule and budget
- Establish and maintain clear communications with the team and customers
- Managing the day to day workload including the berthing and movement of vessels
- Liaise with the Berthing Manager and Trades Managers to meet the requirements and allocate labour to suit
- Ensure all lifting operations are carried out in accordance with best practice and relevant legislation
- Create lifting plans / method statements and risk assessments to all lifting activities, liaising with the design department
- Carry out post lift evaluations and update the lift plan register
- Consult with other departments using specialist knowledge and experience to assist with lifting method statements
- Manage appraisals and training matrix for blue collar workers
- Keep records of holidays, sickness, disciplinary and budget control.
- Maintain health and safety in the build halls and docks
- Have safety walk rounds and resolve any issues in a prompt manner
- Conduct risk assessments for potentially dangerous tasks
- Monitor the progress of work in the team and introduce measures to get the progress back on track
- Perform ad hoc monitoring exercises/ audits of all lifting operations
- Support other Team Leaders and Managers
- Maintain certification for rigging equipment in place for load out of units
- Ordering lifting and sail lost equipment to ensure correct items are delivered as soon as possible and at the best price.

Applicant Requirements:

- Basic knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Have a pro active approach to problem solving.
- Good knowledge of absence management.
- Have proven people management experience.
- Proven background in Lifting, Slinging and Berthing operations.
