Principal EMC, Qualification & Safety Engineer is required for this Defence communications company based in the Gloucestershire area, commutable from Cheltenham, Stroud, Malvern, Tewkesbury, Evesham, etc. To take responsibility & ownership for EMC, Safety, Qualification and Verification issues on military projects, across the company and owner of the company process in these areas. Provide and co-ordinate support of EMC, Safety, Qualification and Verification issues across the company, and drive Processes & Codes of Practice. A broad role with variety a scope for progression.
You will be qualified to Degree level in electronics or equivalent with proven experience in electronics design for EMC, Environmental and Verification on military projects. Intimate knowledge of EMC/ENV/Safety/Verification specifications (DEF-STAN, MIL-STD, CE, E, LVD etc) and of test methodologies & traceability (e.g. DOORS would be useful).
Thorough knowledge and understanding of EMC: specifications & implementation issues, of Test, Qualification & Verification specifications and implementation issues and of Equipment Safety specifications and implementation issues. Positive Attitude. Able to work on own initiative. Good interpersonal skills able to liaise with staff at all levels throughout the company. Ability to work on a variety of programmes, to give a consistent result across the company.
Main duties of this position will be to assist in the preparation of technical documentation:
Central point of expertise on all EMC, Safety & Q&V issues during bids and all EMC issues throughout projects. Influence company processes such that EMC compliance and be the "company expert" on design for EMC, Safety performance and Verification / Qualification of those designs. To represent the company at customer/external EMC/Safety working groups and maintain up to date knowledge of compliance & legislation.
Qualification & Verification: Co-ordinate all test activities across the company (functional, environmental). Advise on Design For Test issues throughout projects. Advise on Traceability and help maintain links between Requirements and Verification activities (e.g. using DOORS).
