Summary of the role
To carry out duties as Responsible Engineer associated with Electrical Engineering as directed by the Head of Discipline Electrical or as required from the Intelligent Customer axis.
Key accountabilities
- Review design submissions for compliance with; specifications and user requirements, safety requirements, legislation, AWE Standards, Codes of Practice and good engineering principles
- Chair Design Reviews for projects, which are predominantly of an electrical nature
- Review and update / renew AWE Standard Specifications which are predominantly of an electrical nature
- Co-ordinate electrical works activities for Head of Discipline and allocate human resource as appropriate
Knowledge, Qualifications, Experience, Skills
- Electrical building services covering LV distribution, general power distribution, lighting systems, fire alarms, fundamental understanding of electrical design / installation / testing / commissioning experience
- Legislation, standards and codes of practice
- Safety systems, practices and safety administration
- Work in commercial and industrial environments
- Hazardous area installations
- HV distribution (useful but not essential)
- Minimum of a Degree (BSc, BEng) in electrical engineering field
- Chartered Engineer (or working towards election)
- Member of an appropriate Institute
- Extensive experience in the design of electrical services in diverse facilities
- Computer literate, with experience of computer aided design packages
- Interpret and understand information in numerical form
- Possess excellent technical knowledge
