Principal Cost Engineer - Hampshire, ENGLAND

Principal Cost Engineer is required by this leading defence organisation based in Hampshire. MOD security criteria applies to this position.

Key Tasks:
Preparation of estimates for major changes and future business packages. Preparation of 'should cost' estimates for designated sub-contracts and/or changes. Sub-contract cost assessment activities. To support the preparation of TV Packs and new proposals to the Ministry. To support Cost Engineering interactions with the Ministry CPET/CAS. Support negotiations with suppliers and customer. To communicate cost engineering processes, procedures and practices across the directorate.

The Principal Cost Engineer will be educated to HNC in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience demonstrated by tangible achievements and be skilled in the use of Microsoft packages.

You will need Cost Engineering experience in similar work environment and possess an understanding of the principles of product Life Cycles inc demonstrable understanding of Through Life Cost concepts. You will need IT experience with range of MS Office Professional software. Also a technical understanding/awareness of complex electronic systems.

The Principal Cost Engineer will need good team working skills and be self motivated. You will have strong drive and commitment to achieve tight deadlines with sufficient innovation and problem solving skills to apply the right level of attention to detail at the right time. Good communication skills - both listening and projecting are paramount.
