Introduction:
My client is one of the world’s leading Naval shipbuilders, Delivering world class solutions in the Design and Build of advanced Warships, Supplying the Royal Naval along with many other Navies throughout the world, They are now looking for a Plater / Fabricator to join their state of the art Production facility in Portsmouth, The successful candidate will be time served and have a previous Engineering background.
Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Team Manager, you will be responsible for the joining and fabrication of heavy gauge plate metal, using a wide range of processes to enhance or repair Royal Naval vessels.

You will be required to:-
- Understand and follow written and/or oral instructions
- Understand and follow health & safety arrangements
- Interpret and, Work from 2 dimensional drawings, and x, y, z, co-ordinate hot-work drawings
- Have ALL the basic hand skills, i.e.; Burning & chamfering of thick and thin plate.
- Tack welding and short run fillet welding.
- Undertake Accurate Marking off, and measurement using Tapes straight edges, Levels, squares, string/chalk lines, and plumb bobs
- Have the ability to use a Dumpy level and laser plane level
- Use grinders and changing discs
- Have experience in use of strong-backs and fairing aids to prevent distortion.
- Bend and form thick and thin plate
- Assist in dry-dock preparation.

Applicant requirements:
- You must have served and successfully completed a recognised Apprenticeship and a relevant trade qualification e.g. City & Guilds, ONC, HNC.
- The work is physically demanding and you will need to be a team player to ensure project deadlines are met.

Benefits:
- The basic salary is £20,966 with overtime premiums paid after 37 hours, as well as an uplift on shift work.
- You will be entitled to 25 days Holiday per annum, plus Bank Holidays,
- Sick pay and a pension scheme
- Permanent role
