Summary of the role
This post will provide specialist metrology support for all machine tools at AWE covering the acceptance testing at both factory and on site. In addition, this post provides inspection support to all machine tool maintenance activities across both AWE sites.
Key accountabilities
• Provide a machine tool acceptance service for machine tool procurements and refurbishments at manufacturer’s works and at AWE after commissioning
• Providing technical support, expertise and advice to machine tool staff, suppliers and customers
Knowledge, Qualifications, Experience & Skills
• Conversant with the safe use of all equipment
• Conversant with modern machine tool acceptance processes and techniques
• Able to work in all facilities where Machine Tools are used
• BTEC or City & Guilds certificate or equivalent in relevant Manufacturing subjects
• Appropriate engineering apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience of machine tool acceptance procedures, specifically the use of dynamic measurement techniques
• Acceptance test processes on machine tools
• Awareness of Health and Safety Legislation
• Awareness of the relevant national and international standards
• Working arrangements in radioactive, toxic and explosive environments.
• Good Communication skills
• Modern machine tool metrology techniques
• Computer literate
