Manufacturing Test Manager is required for this leading international defence company based on the Sussex coast responsible for delivering the Manufacturing Test Department’s requirements across all Programmes ensuring that QCD objectives are achieved.
Developing the Team’s skill and process knowledge base, providing coaching, mentoring and leadership. To develop strategies & processes that keep manufacturing up to date with the latest technological advances and ensure that the department is equipped with the appropriate skill sets to expedite all programmes requirements.
Responsibilities - Resource management, ensuring sufficient resources are available for programme delivery, including IR&D and Bids. Re-allocating resources as necessary. Providing exception management. Developing plans/strategies to fill any capability gaps identified within the Manufacturing Test team and wider Manufacturing organisation.
Technical management, providing technical input/support/reviewing as necessary on programmes. Ensuring programmes perform to the company standards/processes and meet the company and business objectives.
Managing internal manufacturing test process development and keeping abreast of technological developments. Identifying opportunities and planning/championing process improvement tasks. Ensuring sufficient resources are available in order for the manufacturing test function to develop.
Staff management, conducting appraisals, salary reviews, recommending and sponsoring test Engineers for training courses etc. Undertaking monthly communication sessions with the team outlining business and general information along with direction to the team and providing feedback to senior management on significant issues.
Ensuring monthly reports inputs are compiled and issued on time. Developing strategic direction for Manufacturing Test processes. Working with the Manufacturing Engineering team/Engineering Managers/Customers to ensure manufacturing test process strategy is in line with business goals and providing technical input to strategic plans. Assisting the Bid process. Releasing appropriate Test Engineering resources as requested to support the Manufacturing Engineering Team’s bid submissions. Acting as a key technical resource and coordinating bids where appropriate. Performing detailed review of cost estimates prior to formal cost reviews.
