Configuration Control Manager - is required for this Design & Engineering dept of this leading niche supplier of defence communications & satellite equipment.
Responsible for the define, implement and maintain management process for establishing & maintaining consistency of a product’s performance, functional, and physical attributes with its requirements, design and operational information throughout its life. While the role will eventually encompass configuration management company wide, the initial focus will be on software configuration management, including management of some classified software. To control the configuration management and distribution of software internally within the company and externally among customers to establish rigorous controls & records.
Involved in defining strategy for maintaining a comprehensive configuration system. Create & implement process to control the distribution of configuration items (initially software and data). Audit configuration items to verify conformance to specification, drawings, interface control documents, and other contract requirements. Identify current industry CM best practices and standards to develop a robust CM working process. Manage the engineering configuration management tools, and co-ordinate FCA, and PCA audits in line with the company and customer requirements.
You will have proven experience in configuration management in a development and/or electronics manufacturing environment. Practical experience with fundamental tools and processes of configuration management. Previous experience in Configuration Audits (CA) both Functional (FCA) and Physical (PCA).
Degree level qualified, ideally in an engineering related subject. Strong interpersonal skills combined with experience of leading teams and managing relationships with key stakeholders. Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and oral.
Further experience within the Defence Industry and working knowledge of Project Management methodologies & tools would be advantagous.
Special Features - While standard configuration management practice from the defence industry is all that is required the special case for this role is the candidate will be starting from a blank sheet, and will have to create this department, and processes. Must be thorough, confident, capable of assuming authority and able to influence at high levels within the company.
