Electro Optical Systems Engineer - join this leading Defence organisation to undertake a full range of EO Systems engineering activities within the electro-optical skill area, supplying specialist advice and support across the department and projects as appropriate. Individuals may lead teams covering a range of sizes and/or may develop specialist skills EO Systems.
This role is commutable from Hatfield, Hitchin, Royston and Biggleswade.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
Provide EO Systems support to mainstream Projects. Provide EO Systems Support to contract work. Undertake EO Systems work in support of IRAD. Interface with other mbda departments as required eg Advanced Concepts, G & C. Interface with other EO colleagues in mbda departments in France, Germany or Italy as required. Interface directly with internal and external customers as required. Write software as necessary (Excel, VB, Mathcad, MATLAB etc). Run existing specialist EO software and models used in the Dept. Undertake testing of hardware in labs or in the field. Supporting the group's research and development to maintain world class capability. Assist in local recruitment if required.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline, plus a number of years relevant experience.Able to work from first principlesBasic Programming skills (Excel, VB, Mathcad, MATLAB etc)Awareness/experience of passive and/or active Electro-Optic systems and technologies. Good working experiences in more than one phase of the engineering life cycle; Commercial and financial awareness; able to manage budgets.Top level understanding of missile business and how EO Systems fit.
Able to control own workload and that of a small team, meeting timescales and budgets.
