****Hardware Process & Tools Principal Engineer*** is required by this leading defence/avionics organisation based at their East Sussex site with travel to South Wales site. With broad Hardware Development (Digital & Analogue) experience you will have an interest or experience in process improvement and Tools Development.

The role is to drive world class Hardware Engineering process and tools throughout. Provide Hardware Engineering input into the development of the overall Engineering Process Strategic Plan. Identify & manage the implementation of Hardware Engineering process and tools improvements. Provide Hardware Egineering coaching, mentoring and support to programmes. Provide Integrated Product Development Process consultancy to programmes. This is a company wide role and will be based at their Hastings site with substantial travel will be required to the other site.

Responsibilities: Develop a Hardware engineering strategy that is consistent with the overall Engineering Process Strategy. Define the direction for Hardware engineering process. Support the IS Strategy Lead in implementing the Hardware aspects of the strategy. Ongoing review of suitability of toolsets and leadership of trade studies if new tools are required. Management of company wide upgrade of tools. Monitoring of licence use, maintenance costs & cost reduction. Awareness of alternative tools within their domain that may be used by customers, partners and suppliers. Write Process Initiative Plans which define specific Hardware Engineering process improvements and manage according to the plans. Establish links across the company internationally to share Hardware Engineering knowledge, process and tools best practices/advances. Review and approve programme Hardware Development Plans to ensure they align to company standard process and/or adequately document any different approaches. Influence programmes in the use of standard Hardware Engineering process and tools best practice. Provide support and consultancy to programmes in hardware process and tools selection and application. Lead/facilitate IPDP tailoring sessions and team workshops. Attend major milestone programme reviews (e.g. Management Review, IPDR, ICDR, STRR etc.).

Education/Experience:- The Hardware Process & Tools Principal Engineer will ideally be educated to Degree/HND level with proven Hardware (Digital & Analogue design) experience in a similar environment. Solid knowledge of Hardware engineering, Integrated Product Development Process and Hardware engineering QMS procedures. Knowledge of Hardware tools and applications. You will be a proven hardware development engineer working on a variety of programmes preferably in Defence/Avioncs environment. Knowledge of hardware process standards e.g. DO-254 would be an advantage. You will need an interest in process improvement but actual experience is not essential, it is more important they have a wide knowledge and experience in hardware development.
