This job description is aimed at providing a Test Engineer resource to support the Fluid Mechanical Fuel Systems Test Rig during the project’s final phase up to the start of the test programme. The candidate will be required to demonstrate an understanding of aircraft fuel system operating characteristics and prior experience of test strategies associated with fluid characteristics measurement. Therefore, grounding in fluid/mechanical systems testing, coupled with a working knowledge of associated rig construction and related processes/documentation, will be essential. The role will fundamentally involve employment in not only office environments, but workshop and DSEAR/ATEX regulated test areas as well, hence a “Safety First” mentality is a pre-requisite. Tasks To Be Carried Out As part of a team the jobholder will be required to perform the following type of activities: ? Interpret aircraft fuel and electrical wiring systems drawings. Design and/or modify fuel test rigs and associated ancillary equipment. Fault-diagnose mechanical and electrical problems/failures from first principles down to component level. Production of various project related documents including test instructions. Administrate configuration database. Provide technical information for specialist risk assessments. Assist in commissioning activities Carry out technical investigations and make recommendations for design or procedural amendments. Track and provide visibility of procurement system progress for purchased goods and services. Liaise with aircraft systems design engineers on testing and design issues. Carry out tasks in accordance with Project timescales. Attend regular Project progress meetings, communicating issues and potential deviations from defined timescales where necessary in a timely manner. Note: Extended days or shift working may be required during peak periods of activity.
