AMEC's nuclear business, which resides within the Power & Process division is the largest UK-based private sector supplier of programme management and consultancy services to the nuclear sector. The business builds on AMEC's 50 years experience in the nuclear market and clients include BNFL, MoD, British Energy, UKAEA, AWE Aldermaston and a wide range of international nuclear utilities.
What do we do?
In nuclear, our Power & Process Europe business provides services across the full asset lifecycle spectrum, including programme management, major project management, engineering, EPC and construction, outage management, safety design and assessment, R&D, radiochemical analysis, radiological, environmental and other specialist technical services.

We also provide expert technical services, including reactor systems analysis and development, regulatory license support and safety assessments to international nuclear markets. Our expertise crosses borders into the US, Central and Eastern Europe, South Africa, Lithuania, Ukraine, Armenia and Russia.
What is the scale of our projects?
AMEC works on a global scale, delivering engineering projects from initial planning all the way through to completion and on-going asset life support.
For example, AMEC, through the consortium Nuclear Management Partners, comprising URS Washington Division, AMEC and AREVA manages and operates the Sellafield Sites on behalf of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority.
In Lithuania, AMEC is the project manager for the Ignalina reactor decommissioning site, one of the largest decommissioning programmes in Europe. In South Africa, we delivered a research project to the Nuclear Installation Inspectorate (NII) that developed practical guidelines for UK licensees on managing human factors in the de-fuelling and decommissioning phases of nuclear power stations.
