Job Summary Atkins is one of the UK's largest providers of nuclear, power and energy consultancy and engineering support services. Within the Nuclear sector, Atkins has an exceptional reputation of delivering innovative, cost-effective business and engineering solutions to owners, operators, regulators and suppliers to nuclear licensed sites. Our Nuclear Generation team based in Bristol is seeking applications from Control and Instrumentation Engineers. We are particularly interested in receiving applications from degree qualified engineers with an aptitude for leadership, with a desire to make a real difference to key clients, working on projects with high safety significance. Responsibilities Work will involve working within a multi-disciplinary team providing assistance to our client on tasks such as plant modifications and preparation or revision of safety case arguments and calculations, for example: - Investigate requirements for installation of a new, or replacement of an existing electrical, electronic or programmable plant item or system and preparation of a specification
- Preparation of a safety justification for the new or replacement item(s)
- Working with external contractors through the design and implementation phases of a project, in particular to ensure that cliams on the equipment made in the safety justifcation can be supported
Requirements Essential - Degree qualifed in Electrical, Electronic or Control & Instrumentation Engineering
- A sufficient and appropriate level of relevant industrial experience
- Candidates will need to meet certain criteria in order to attain an appropriate level of UK security clearance required by our clients
Desirable - Chartered or working towards Chartered status
- Previous nuclear power station site experience
- Conventional plant, fuel route and safety experience
- Experience of working within a safety-related environment
- Previous experience gained within a consultancy/commercial environment
- Knowledge of the project lifecycle, safety lifecycle, IEC 61508, safety case, integrity targets and functional safety

- Effective communicator
- Questioning and challenging when appropriate
- Problem solver.
