The Client

A 'blue chip' business currently seeks to fill a position at one of their UK offices, on this occasion in Farnborough, Hampshire. Recognised as a world leader in the field of aerospace & defence, opportunities of this type are highly desirable and the scope to progress in terms of personal and career development are realistic to those who seek to achieve them.

Function

Reporting to the Business Improvement (BI) Director, the Communications Manager will have specific responsibility for the development, management and delivery of communications across UK/Rest of the World BI group which includes a number of key business functions.

The Communications Manager will be responsible for ensuring that business strategy and objectives are underpinned by a communication framework that delivers consistent messages to relevant stakeholders.

The Role

The key responsibilities for the role include:

• Consultancy to the BI Director and BI Management Team on appropriate communications strategy and key messages for all aspects of the business - particularly raising awareness of what BI is/does and the best approach to communicate across functional communities across the Client’s business units;
• Communications support to conferences and events;
• Development of BI communications inputs for the Client’s corporate processes and initiatives;
• Development of communications plans for specific BI campaigns;
• Manage effective implementation of the Client’s corporate brand across all communications;
• Engage and align activities with the Corporate Communications function;
• Lead, manage and develop the Business Improvement communications team;
• Management of appropriate budgets in support of the above.

To achieve the above some business travel will be involved.

Key Skills and Experience

Ideal candidates for the role will be degree educated with proven experience in the communications field.

The candidate must have strong influencing skills and previous experience of delivering a communications strategy in a large complex organisation. This strategy will be delivered through a network of individual contacts that they will have established in the organisation.

It is essential that the candidate is able to distil key messages from complex information.
