An exciting opportunity is available for a Buyer based in Hillend, Fife for this large defence company.
The successful applicant will report to the Procurement Manager working within the Shared Services Team, responsible for the procurement of materials / commodities ensuring requirements related to cost, quality, delivery and relationship are achieved.
Responsibilities include:
• Procurement of materials / commodities ensuring requirements related to cost, quality, delivery and relationship are achieved. To obtain materials and services at the lowest cost of acquisition in line with the Commodity / Category plan.
• To own and maintain an individual Requisition tab for identified commodities ensuring the procurement of materials & services to time, cost, quality requirements. Ensure RFQ's are issued, received and analysed appropriately to ensure effective Purchase order commitments.
• Negotiate with suppliers to ensure the most effective business and technical outcome.
Desirable Skills:
• Working towards CIPS qualification
• Procurement (Buying) experience across a range of commodities
• Electronic procurement experience in electronic commodities
• Electronic procurement experience in electronic commodities
• Experience of SAP Systems - In particular SAP procurement experience
• Detailed experience with the Request for Quotation process
• Experience in negotiating ethical price deals across a range of commodities
