The Sea Systems Group at Abbeywood is seeking a full-time Materials Engineer/Scientist. You will help the Group provide specialist advice in support of the maritime design and upkeep requirements of defence equipment. Your duties will include investigating materials failure, advising project teams on the best course of action and liaising with contractors. The decisions you make will be vital to the development and delivery of effective policies.
Ideally, you will have a degree in metallurgy or materials science, with demonstrable knowledge of materials in marine applications, and of national and international standards on materials and processes. Your expertise should include non-ferrous metals and alloys (and welding), marine corrosion resistance, fasteners and manufacturing processes.
A team worker, you have excellent communication, problem solving and influencing skills.
